Fine Art Photography of Nature & the Environment

Mark started his professional photography career in 1995 while studying Mountain Lions as a research volunteer in the Sawtooth National Forest and focuses primarily on landscapes and wildlife.  His images have been featured in some of the most prestigious art galleries on the East Coast including his most recent exhibit of "The Hidden World of Owls" in the Mass Audubon's Joppa Flats Education Center.  Mark has also been an invited guest on NECN where his images have been featured and he has spoken about conservation issues and the wildlife and environment he is so passionate about. Combine Mark's professional photography skills with his background in Environmental Science and Wildlife Biology it's no surprise to see stunning images like the ones seen on the page.  These images are a small sample of the images Mark has captured all over the United States.  To view more images and order prints, please contact Mark directly at:

Photographer Mark Brown will Discuss Owls and Wildlife Dec.12

Mark Brown and Baby Great Horned OwlPhotographer Mark Brown of Andover invites the public to join him for an informal discussion on the wildlife he photographs at a reception on Sunday, December 12, at 2:30 p.m. at the Joppa Flats Education Center.  The reception is open to the public free of charge. Mark’s show, The Hidden World of Owls, is currently featured at Joppa Flats.

Born in New York City, Mark Brown grew up in an urban environment and became fascinated with nature’s wonders at an early age. Mark started to pursue an adult interest in photography in 1995 while studying mountain lions as a research volunteer in Idaho’s Sawtooth National Forest. Since then, he has captured thousands of images from all over North America. He focuses his photography on landscape and wildlife images found in settings from deserts to forests to mountains to oceans. He seeks to capture nature’s poetic beauty for the enjoyment of others to experience and has exhibited and published his work across the US. Locally, he shows and discusses his photographic work for the weather team on New England Cable Vision.

"A 13-month-old young man just came to visit from Medford with his mom because they saw the owl picture advertising Mark’s exhibit in the Globe.  The young man was wearing his owl hat, his owl t-shirt, and his owl sweatshirt.  His mom says he picked out his outfit this morning. He toddled all through the exhibit, pointing at each owl photo, saying Hoo!  Hoo!  It was adorable!  Mark, she is going to get in touch with you for barn owl information.  Good show!"

Santa isn't the only anticipated visitor these days. Snowy owls are on their way south from the Arctic and you might see them at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. Across the street you will definitely see them at "The Hidden World of Owls," Mark Brown's exhibit of color photos. Species captured by the Andover photographer include burrowing, great gray, and snowy. -- June Wulff, Globe Staff
